Harvest Seafood Market is owned and operated by Paul Batson, the fourth generation of his family in the seafood industry.  He spent time growing up fishing the waters of eastern North Carolina and working with his dad and grandad in wholesale distribution of fresh seafood.  He also worked for several years at a retail seafood market in Wrightsville Beach, NC.  You could say that seafood is part of his blood.  Because of this, Harvest Seafood Market  will reflect the values that Paul found to be most important to seafood customers: quality and transparency.

Quality.  You want good seafood.  Good seafood has been taken care of from the time it's caught to the time it's on your plate.  Good seafood is fresh.  Harvest Seafood Market is only open Thursday-Saturday because we're spending the first part of each week sourcing the freshest products available.  And we don't carry things over from week-to-week.  Quality also has to do with preparation, so we'll be glad to give you advice on how to best prepare your selection.

Transparency.  We won't give you any "fish stories."  We will tell you where your seafood is from and when it was caught.  We may even be able to tell you the name of the fisherman who caught it.  We believe it is important for Harvest Seafood Market to be upfront about what you're purchasing.  We're trying to source--as much as possible--from the Carolinas and Virginia.  However, sometimes we just can't.  For instance, shrimp aren't caught in the Carolinas year-round, so there may be times that your shrimp are from another area.  We may even sell a product that has been previously frozen.  We don't think you'll be able to tell a difference (frozen seafood that has been taken care of is often just as good as fresh), but you'll know upfront if it's been frozen, because we believe you should have that information.
